Dr San Chatterjee qualified as a dentist in 1999 at King George Medical College and has practised dentistry for over over twenty-five years — with the last twenty focused exclusively on implant dentistry. In 2023 he was awarded the Membership in Implant Dentistry (MID) by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, one of the most rigorous implant qualifications available to general dental practitioners in the United Kingdom. The MID is awarded on examination — not by attendance — and is held by only a small minority of UK implant dentists.

San has trained in implant dentistry at advanced courses in Zurich, Stockholm and London and works exclusively with premium-brand implant systems (Straumann and Nobel Biocare) for which he is certified. His Tower Dental caseload is focused on complex restorative cases: multiple-tooth implant bridges, implant-supported dentures, full-arch rehabilitation and revision cases for patients who have had unsuccessful implant treatment elsewhere.

A first implant consultation with Dr Chatterjee at Tower Dental usually lasts 45–60 minutes and includes a clinical examination, a 3D CBCT scan if appropriate, and a full discussion of treatment options. Dr Chatterjee will explain the realistic timeframe (typically 3–6 months for the full bone-integration cycle), the cost, the alternatives such as bridges or dentures where relevant, and the long-term care your implants will require. With over twenty years focused exclusively on implant dentistry, he treats both straightforward single-tooth replacements and complex full-arch restorations including All-on-4.

Dr Chatterjee maintains a workload focused exclusively on implant dentistry, which is itself a form of continuing competence under GDC standards. In 2023 he was awarded the Membership in Implant Dentistry (MID) by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh — one of the most rigorous implant-specific qualifications available to general dental practitioners. Like all GDC-registered clinicians, he completes the GDC’s mandatory continuing professional development of at least 100 verifiable hours every five years.
