Meet Our
Expert Team
You will be treated by one of 5 named dentists. They are all GDC-registered dentists in Blackpool, and you can check every one of them yourself in about 20 seconds. Your principal dentist Dr Sarah Metias holds MJDF RCS England from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. If you feel anxious, say so when you book — nervous patients are looked after here every day. Tower Dental is CQC-regulated, so your practice is inspected independently too. Scroll down to meet each dentist and see their GDC number.
Check any of us on the GDC register
Every dentist here is named, with their own GDC number. Tap a name and the General Dental Council will tell you whether that dentist is registered. It takes about 20 seconds. You do not have to take our word for any of it.

Who to ask for: You would see Sarah for cosmetic and repair work, a smile makeover, or if you feel nervous about the dentist.
About Dr Metias
Dr Sarah Metias is the Principal Dentist and owner of Tower Dental. She holds MJDF RCS England (GDC 114267). This is a postgraduate dental qualification. She is also the practice's CQC Registered Manager. That means she is personally accountable for clinical standards here.
Sarah founded Tower Dental Blackpool. She also owns a second dental practice in Lancashire. She has built practices that genuinely put patients first. She takes particular care with nervous patients. Her calm, unhurried manner has helped many of our patients who used to avoid the dentist altogether. As CQC Registered Manager, she takes direct personal responsibility for the clinical standards and safety of every treatment at Tower Dental.
Her clinical interests are cosmetic and restorative dentistry (repairing damaged teeth). That means composite bonding, veneers, smile makeovers and whitening. Careful planning here gives natural-looking results. Cosmetic results vary from person to person, and she will tell you honestly what is realistic for your teeth. Colleagues and patients describe her as warm, patient, unhurried and deeply committed. She treats every patient as she would treat her own family.
"I built Tower Dental because I believe the people of Blackpool deserve a dental practice that doesn't compromise. Not on skill, not on technology, not on the time we spend with each patient. I see people here who are terrified of the dentist, who haven't smiled properly in years because they are so self-conscious about their teeth — and changing that for them is the most rewarding thing I do. Every single person who sits in our chair deserves to leave feeling genuinely cared for, genuinely listened to and genuinely transformed. That is what we are here to do."
Who to ask for: You would see San about a missing tooth — dental implants, implant bridges and implant dentures.
About Dr Chatterjee
Dr San Chatterjee is a dentist with a special interest in Implantology (replacing missing teeth with implants). His work at Tower Dental focuses on replacing missing teeth. That ranges from single implants to implant-supported bridges and dentures.
San has undertaken advanced training in Zurich, Stockholm and London. He has a fine eye for detail and a calm chair-side manner. Both suit complex restorative work (repairing damaged teeth).
He will talk you through the realistic options for your situation. That includes other choices, such as bridges or dentures. He does this before anything is agreed.

Who to ask for: You would see Alaaeldin for general and repair work, including crowns and bridges.
About Dr Elraggal
Dr Alaaeldin Elraggal is an Associate Dentist at Tower Dental. He holds a BDS and a PhD in Dental Biomaterials.
His doctoral research looked at how restorative dental materials last over time. That background guides the materials he picks for each case. Results vary between patients, and he will explain what is realistic for your teeth. He is careful, patient and thorough. He provides general and restorative dentistry (repairing damaged teeth). This includes crown and bridge work.
Who to ask for: You would see Safa for a root canal, or for cosmetic work such as bonding, veneers and whitening.
About Dr Rafiq
Dr Safa Rafiq is a dentist with a special interest in endodontics (root canal treatment) and cosmetic dentistry. She has a fine eye for detail and loves creating natural-looking smiles. She offers a range of cosmetic treatments. These include composite bonding (tooth-coloured filling material shaped onto your teeth), veneers, whitening and crown and bridge work. She takes great care with each one. Cosmetic results vary from person to person, and she will explain what is realistic for your teeth.
Dr Rafiq uses gentle techniques that remove as little tooth as possible. She plans carefully and puts you at the centre of that planning. Her special interest in endodontics covers root canal treatment. So she can look after how your teeth work as well as how they look. She cares for the whole smile, not just its surface.

Who to ask for: You would see Thomas for everyday general dentistry, and if dental visits make you anxious.
About Dr Symm
Dr Thomas Symm is an Associate Dentist at Tower Dental. He provides general dentistry in a calm way, with you at the centre. He takes particular care with patients who feel anxious about dental visits. He explains each step before it happens. He works at a pace that suits you.
Thomas loves calm general dentistry that puts you first. He takes time to put anxious patients at ease. He helps them feel confident about their care.
Away from the chair, Thomas is quietly determined and down to earth. Do you want a dentist who will listen? One who takes time to understand your worries and treats you as an individual? Dr Symm may be a good fit for you. Read Dr Symm's full profile →

Why Qualifications Matter When Choosing a Dentist in Blackpool
Every UK dentist must hold General Dental Council (GDC) registration. It confirms the dentist has completed a recognised dental degree. That is usually a 5-year BDS programme. It does not confirm any level of postgraduate specialisation. There is a big gap between a newly qualified BDS graduate and a dentist who holds the MJDF from the Royal College of Surgeons of England or training in implantology. That gap shows in clinical depth, in diagnosis, in treatment planning and in technical skill. At Tower Dental Blackpool, every member of the clinical team has invested heavily in postgraduate development. That goes well beyond the minimum required for GDC registration. You can see the results in every case we treat.
Dr Sarah Metias's MJDF from the Royal College of Surgeons of England took a tough set of assessments. They covered the full breadth of restorative and cosmetic dentistry. She had to pass both the written and the clinical parts to the standard the Royal College requires. Dr San Chatterjee has undertaken advanced postgraduate training in implantology. Dr Alaaeldin Elraggal holds a PhD in Dental Biomaterials. These are recognised postgraduate qualifications, not weekend course certificates.

What makes Tower Dental in Blackpool different?
Tower Dental Blackpool is at 302a Devonshire Road FY2 0TW. We are not a typical dental practice. We are an advanced private dental practice that happens to be in Blackpool. You get the ease of a local practice. You also get the clinical depth, qualifications and quality of materials that most patients link with larger clinical settings or specialist referral centre. Our principal dentist Dr Sarah Metias holds the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MJDF RCS, GDC 114267). This is an advanced postgraduate qualification. Dr San Chatterjee has a special interest in Implantology (GDC 84643). Dr Alaaeldin Elraggal holds a PhD in Dental Biomaterials (GDC 300605).
All this postgraduate expertise sits in our Blackpool practice. It helps every patient who comes to Tower Dental. That is true whether you come for a routine examination, composite bonding, dental implants or emergency treatment. We base our clinical decisions on strong evidence. We choose the materials carefully for each case. We give each patient the time the case needs. We are not held to an NHS appointment schedule.
Patient-First Philosophy at Tower Dental Blackpool
Our philosophy is simple. We make every clinical decision in your best long-term interest. We do not aim for the highest possible income per appointment. So we tell you honestly when you do not need treatment. We tell you when a cheaper option will give the same result as a dearer one. We tell you when your case falls outside what we can best treat here. Then we refer you to the right specialist. We tell you what treatment can realistically achieve. That includes the limits, and the upkeep it will need. We do not oversell results.
This honesty matters to us. It is the foundation of the trust our patients place in us. Our patients' 5-star Google reviews mention the same things again and again. They mention the team's honesty and the lack of pressure. They mention clear clinical explanations and genuine care at every step. Patients from across Blackpool, the Fylde Coast and Lancashire keep coming back to Tower Dental. They send us their family and friends too. It is not because of marketing or special offers. It is because the care here is genuinely focused on the patient.

It also gives you longer appointments. Both have their place. We are a private practice and do not offer NHS treatment. Some treatments are not available on the NHS. These include composite bonding, porcelain veneers, Invisalign, dental implants and professional whitening. We offer them all at Tower Dental to patients from across Blackpool, the Fylde Coast and Lancashire.
Evidence-Based Dentistry at Tower Dental Blackpool
Every treatment we recommend is grounded in current clinical evidence. Dr Alaaeldin Elraggal's PhD-level research background in dental biomaterials feeds into that. It keeps our approach to materials, techniques and treatment planning in step with current dental research. Our team goes to continuing professional development events regularly. We read postgraduate journals, including the British Dental Journal and the Journal of Dentistry. We apply evidence-based protocols to every clinical situation. So you get dentistry that is not just skilled, but scientifically current.
Digital Technology at Tower Dental Blackpool
We use digital impression technology for crowns, veneers and implant restorations. It replaces the traditional putty impressions that cause discomfort and gagging. It also gives more accurate results. And it cuts the time the laboratory needs. This technology shows our commitment to your comfort. We want every stage of your dental journey to feel comfortable, clear and in your control.
CQC Regulation and GDC Registration — Your Assurance of Quality
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulates Tower Dental Blackpool. The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care services in England. CQC registration means we have met the fundamental standards of safety and quality required of all healthcare providers. It also means those standards are inspected and monitored independently. Dr Sarah Metias is the CQC Registered Manager of the practice. She takes personal regulatory accountability for every part of clinical safety and quality at Tower Dental. All dentists at Tower Dental are registered with the General Dental Council (GDC). The GDC sets and enforces standards for the dental profession in the UK. It also requires every dentist to keep up their continuing professional development. At Tower Dental Blackpool we work to the standards set by the GDC and CQC. You can check both registrations yourself. Call 01253 353759 to book, or visit us at 302a Devonshire Road, Blackpool FY2 0TW.

Your Dental Health Journey — From First Visit to Long-Term Care
You and your dental practice should be long-term partners. It should not be a run of one-off appointments. So at Tower Dental Blackpool we take time to learn your dental history. We learn your own goals for your oral health. We learn how anxious you feel, and which parts of your life affect your dental health. That fuller picture shapes every clinical decision we make. We look at the whole of you, not just the tooth that hurts today. Coming in regularly means we usually spot problems earlier. Early problems are simpler and cheaper to treat. What Patients Say About Our Team
⭐ Real reviews from our Google Business Profile
"1st time having "real" work done here since Mr Barnes days. Have to say everything was great. From Sebby, front of house right through to Mohammed. Sebby explained everything and sorted payment side out - he's a happy, helpful chap & very calming. Roz and Hannah were Mohammed's assistants / trainees on the day and they were absolutely lovely, especially Roz's calming nature. Mohammed was top notch. You tend to worry when it's a new dentist, after decades of the previous dentist. After 2 or 3 minutes chatting with Mohammed (in general & about the procedure) you relax, as he clearly knows his stuff & everything was great. Highly recommend. Not saying I'm now looking forward to dentist visits, but great to know they're on the ball."
You will also meet our reception and nursing team. They look after you from the moment you arrive.
