What does invisalign and whitening look like in practice?
An anonymised illustrative case showing how a planned combination of Invisalign clear aligners and professional whitening transforms a smile without veneers — typical of conservative smile-makeover cases delivered at Tower Dental Blackpool.
A note on these case studies: The cases below are anonymised composite illustrations of typical patient journeys at Tower Dental Blackpool. They have been written in collaboration with our clinical team to reflect real-world treatment patterns and outcomes, but no individual patient is identified, and no specific patient consent was required for these illustrative cases. As consented patient photographs become available, we will replace these illustrations with documented case histories. ASA / GDC compliant. Reviewed by Dr Sarah Metias, GDC 114267.

Patient concern

A patient in their late 20s presented before their wedding wanting their smile to look noticeably better in photographs. The lower teeth had drifted and crowded slightly over the years (post-orthodontic relapse from teenage braces) and the upper teeth had picked up coffee staining. They were initially asking about veneers but were nervous about drilling.

Treatment provided

At consultation Dr Metias took photographs and a digital scan. The clinical assessment was that veneers were unnecessary — alignment plus whitening would address both concerns conservatively, and once the teeth were aligned the smile would already look transformed. A two-stage plan was agreed: (1) Invisalign to align the upper and lower teeth, then (2) at-home tray whitening over the final 3 weeks of Invisalign treatment (the aligners doubled as whitening trays for a portion of the treatment), plus retainers for life. Total Invisalign cost £3,800 (full case including refinement aligners and retainers), whitening included £333.

Timescale

Total transformation: 11 months. Invisalign 9 months (29 aligners), refinement 2 months (8 additional aligners), whitening alongside the final stage. Wedding photographs at month 12 — patient delighted with the result.
